Conducted some range tests today. We will see how much of a response we get as folks check their nodes. However this demonstrated a problem I have with MeshCore (MC): no client repeating.
As you can see I have a node in my office window, with a upgraded antenna.
Not one single message was received today during my tests on my office node. Every message was received on the WFR2 Meshtastic (MT) repeater node, but not one made it to my desk. This has been my concern with MC. Not allowing clients to repeat leads to this problem. We can’t all have MC repeaters on our roofs.
For me, that is why I am favoring MT. The additional roles, like Client-Base, solves this issues giving you the option to have a node at a strategic location (your roof top) that can push the message the last bit of the way inside the building.
Just my $0.02, I am open to being proven wrong, and either way we can put up both MT & MC and have options.
